well I finally did it, after talking about deleting my facebook account for about a month or so i pulled the trigger. i can't decide if i feel like frodo tossing the ring, or just another hipster douche who's "so coooool" he doesn't need facebook ....... most likely the latter.

actually it came down to the fact that i really don't care about people enough to be inundated with a constant stream of their personal life - "mmmm lasagna!" or "im with coco!" and the same goes for me, its already bad enough i feel i need to share how good i am at internet archeology and typing with anyone whose interested (and judging by my spam comments, im huge in china) so why over do it? something tells me i might be back on the facebook sooner than later, but i really don't miss myspace either, in the mean time i guess my life with be lacking a lot of this this and this ............... damn.

i'm hoping most of america has seen the movie Crash by now. Three Six Mafia won a freaking oscar for a song they produced for this movie so obviously that clears it as instant classic. oh i'm sorry whats that Clark Gable? you want Three Six Mafia on your next movie? hmm guess you should have rethought that whole racist thing sooner. over course im assuming that Clark Gable was a racist, guess its the pencil thin mustache and the whole "Gone With The Wind thing. and i digress...... anyways this is a great movie, blah blah blah, racism, blah blah blah, etc.

but i'm personally more impressed with the work of composer Mark Isham (sultry, i know) on the soundtrack. its definitely one of those "hey this will make everyone lucid and thoughtful" soundtracks that has a really airy feel to it. i prefer to take it on its own. i'm sure the minute Isham's creation hit the ears of the movie goers across the bible belt, hole riddled bed sheets where doused in gas and lit in protest as people re-thank their ways and hugged it out. who cares about that though? i'm just looking for some more tracks to steal inspiration from for the next music project....

so after being sick for 6 weeks or so i finally went to the doctor. he told me my pirate hooker lifestyle of the last 6 months has caught up with me and i'm going to die......... in about 50 some years.

actually he told me i was smart for not coming in right away because he hates germ freaks and would have stabbed me in the neck with a rusty syringe. i guess thats to be expected from a physician wearing a hulk hogan themed doctors coat (he also told me that the penicillin he was giving me would bring the smack down on the bacteria in my body, brother!!). it didn't really throw me seeing as i was still in shock from the fact that he had his office adjacent to the most run down chucky cheese establishment i have ever seen.

fun story about chucky cheese - when i was about 10 i was out on a family outing enjoying all the pleasures and over-sized ball tank can bring. i mean this thing was massive, or at least 20 by 20 was pretty big in my 10 year old eyes. meanwhile on the other side of the pit a small girl had gone on a biting rampage to end all rampages. she was working her way towards me with a determination that would make godzilla blush. at the time i had no idea what was heading my way. as i watched her claw her way towards me i tried to put two and two together and figure out what was happening and why should i cut short my prepubescent ball festivities. luckily mom had a close eye on my from the other side of the parent net, and began yelling at the girls mom and then at me simultaneously. if i remember correctly she told her to "control you kid" at the exact same time she said "get out now!" to me ...... its science. let me tell you (orphans) the only thing scarier than a little girl looking to put a personal tooth display on your forearm is the look of your mom when she's pissed cause shes scared for you. it still didn't make sense to me even at the time, but i knew that when mom yelled it meant "go" time. i still didn't know what happened until my mom spelled it out for me. call me crazy but i stuck to biting kids on the playground instead of the ball pit. every 10 year old out there knows that t-rex is way cooler than plesiosaurus (if you don't know what those are look them up, cause your most likely a girl, and you will have a boy who loves dinosaurs in your life. friend, lover, or child).

i guess what im saying is listen to your mom, and the next time your at your local micky d's enjoying yourself, and you see a small girl working her way towards you with a look that only steven erwin could decipher......... squirt some catsup packets in her eyes and run like hell!

also never read anything i write when im not feeling well, i just went back through this and none of it made sense.

Surrounded by idiots - a love story

i would have to say that a good majority of the people on this earth go around thinking they are the smartest person they know. maybe not book smart, and maybe not all the time smart, but most of us go about our daily lives thinking we have the best methods and practices to survive the day to day grind. maybe its just me, i know i don't have everything figured out but i certainly have my methods. regardless of wether or not you think that highly of yourself in your day to day activities there is one thing everyone can agree on ........ they're the best driver and everyone else on the road is an idiot!

now i could go on and on about how much worse of a driver everyone else is than me, but I'm gonna focus more on the cruise control issue. not everyone has it, in-fact my car doesn't have it, but i would guess at least 70% of the vehicles on the road are equipped with even the most basic version of cruise control. however i have discovered a little know secret for driving with out cruise control ........ its called checking your speedometer! ohhh worrrd? now bear with me mini-van driver in the left lane doing 55, i know your a little dazed from the impact of this common sense, but we'll get you through this.

with a posted speed limit of 70 i set the cruise control for 74 and got in the speed lane this last weekend. on the way to portland i had no issues and made great time because people used the highway the way it was created to be used, coming home was another issue. nothing makes me want to drop kick a puppy faster than drivers who are doing 5 miles under the speed limit in the fast lane, then once you pass them they mash their gas and fly by you only to block you off another 5 miles down the road because they're back at 57. who are these people? why do the hate the right lane so much? were they abused as children? these are all questions i have as i pass the same car for the 5th time riding an obscenity laden ti-raid in my brain.

maybe i should just chill out, maybe im a bad person, but i have a sneaky suspicion that im not the only person who has experienced this mind numbing phenomenon. for all of you guilty of this ........ and you know who YOU are, learn to love the right lane ............ or learn to love my road rage glare.

everyone loves christmas - fact. and by everyone i exclude muslims and jews but really deep down they wish that they could celebrate christmas. im sorry but try and explain to me again why 8 days of hanukkah is better than one epic blow out of gifts and family festivities? im not buying your pitch, no matter how many candles you light.

i think its lost most of its meaning and certainly most of its rational thought process, but its still holds a place in my heart. not so much for the gifts as much as for the memories of being with family. now i know what your thinking "this sounds like a poor persons take on christmas" and it is. as someone who neither gives nor receives copious amounts of gifts you sometimes have to actually dig deeper than whats on the surface. every year when i look back i have three distinct memories that will forever epitomize christmas to me and mine 1.) putting together new lego sets on christmas day 2.) dulcimer dan christmas music (seriously this is what my mom blasted for the last 14 days of december and its not christmas if i don't hear something banged out on a dulcimer - check the slippers) 3. my moms food (cookies and christmas dinner, its not christmas unless i get a home made roll)

after missing 5 out of the last 6 christmases at home its lacking its usual glow but then youtube sent me a little dee snider.

during an office day at the showroom not that long ago i had the pleasure of meeting mr. liberty vance (not to be confused with this guy, how many times have you heard that one liberty?). anyways we got to talking and after hearing about his love of shredding and his decision to move to washington from ohio (good call), he told me a little about a project he and his wife started last year called "girls go boarding."

so after about 6 weeks or so of a full arm cast it was time to get my short cast on! being in the last cast was like being locked in a mirrored room with spencer from "the hills." awesome, anyways new cast time and this is where i get them.and this is who i hang out with in the waiting room......
and heres where the magic happens!
so they have the casting room with 7 seats big enough to accommodate people with purple sweatpants. and the room is filled with all the necessary tools of the trade including this bad boy. this is sortof like a dremel saw blade and it oscillates back n forth cutting through the cast material but keeping the skin safe even when there is direct contact. however in my case the dead skin on my thumb was no match for the blade and one tiny cut made me sweat like bill clinton at a golden coral for the rest of the cast removal.
heres a closer look at the blade
mmmmmm sex appeal! here she is, pre exfoliation/bathing party. my wrist and thumb were covered in about a 1/4 inch of dead skin that came off like a banana peel. i now sport a hair to arm ratio comparable to robin williams.
here is the x-ray negative from when i got the long arm cast on six weeks ago. the scaphoid is the little bone on the bottom right of that cluster of small bones. you can see that there's a small chip out the right side and a fracture line through the middle of the bone.here are my new negatives and the fracture line is still there but the chip has filled in! super excited about that because i was starting to worry about my healing process, but when the doctor uses words like "ecstatic" its hard to be bummed.

one last thumbs up before i put it away for 6 more weeks
purple seemed to be a recurring theme for this trip to the doctors. i'd like to think that the last cast i'll ever wear is a purple one, if you catch my meaning.

so i got to watch this physiological thriller last night, starring bruce willis, sharon stone, and marmaduke ...... i think. im sorry but im going to spoil the ending ....... ready? ....... the dog dies. and not just a regular death, no this dog dies the exact same way our dog coon buns died. they put him to sleep during a flashback montage! and not old yeller style, ohhhh no full on: needle in the tube down the hatch yes i did cry, yes its a horrible movie, well maybe its okay, but incredibly painful to sit through the last 15mins ...... and owen wilson's acting. rent it if you wanna cry like a mother at her daughters wedding.

this handsome rouge is michael portillo, a current public affairs commentator and journalist for the bbc, michael was once the conservative cabinet minister in the u.k. after no research whatsoever i've determined that he did republican/biblically themed kitchen sets for the former presidential administration. now hes on the "telly" commentating in his sultry british accent on the regular, reminding everyone out there that "no, you will never be as cool as me."

michael teamed up with the bbc program "horizon" to tackle the question: what's the most humane way to kill a death row inmate? once you get past michael being a tool, this mini documentary is scary, thought provoking, morally challenging, and extremely interesting. with one side touting "kill em all n let god sort em out" and the other "love everyone even rapists" it seems that michael would fall under the "if your gonna do it, do it right" category which i wouldn't call the middle but is still a fairly impartial viewpoint that i have little problem dis-agreeing with. however i think its hard not to share the opinion of pro death penalty proponents and hope that these people who commit the evilest and most vile acts of crime on humanity don't suffer in the same way those who they persecuted did. but in the end is doesn't that lead us away from crime and punishment and into vindictive vengeance?

thanks to a jeff hamada post on his blog booooooom.com i finally took the time to absorb some of their songs and promptly picked up a copy of their newest album "veckatimist" (whatever thats supposed to mean). far and away my favorite song is "ready,able" which is incredible! the rest of the album is more that satisfactory and definitely a must have for you lp collection. "veckatimist" dropped this last may so (like me) consider yourself behind, but grab a copy before the new year, blow it out to all your homies, and then quickly claim your "over it" because thats music nerd s.o.p. really i shouldn't even be posting this because it came out nine months ago which means its played. good thing im on the music snob patch and still listening to the last phoenix and cut copy albums so i really dont care.

old news is good news right? meh i really dont care either way cause no matter what i had an awesome time at evo last weekend! evo hosted their first annual? tweak show event featuring the ride snowboards sponsored action sports athletes. costume party? free beer? famous people? movies???? free shwag???? yes please! i've got to say that since moving here to seattle the evo vs. snocon battle of events is easily being won by evo. not that i dont love snocon because i do and its were i picked up my copy of "cool story" but evo has tried to get me drunk multiple times for free and while i resisted thats still pretty cool.
when i first walked through the door i was carded, then given 3 drink tickets, then a bag of candy, it was a three step validation of adulthood. candy at 9pm? pff try that at home 10 year olds! after the candy excitement wore off i looked up to see about 20 people and nobody i knew...... akward! so it was time to investigate the goodie bag.
custom jones sodas you say? classy! free stickers, a mag, candy, a hat, wow christmas in october! (thank you ride and evo) after tallying my haul and looking up to see it still looked like a jr high dance i decided that i would make halloween a special occasion and drink for the first time in about a month. after returning from the art/beer room i came back to a slightly more up-beat event. as the night wore on more and more sweet costumes arrived, the movies played, and the costume contest went down. all in all an awesome night that was a blast! check out my flickr for more photos on the night which tell a better story than i do here.famous people love to get their photos taken

i know those of you who were at sia last year know this but for those of you out of the loop let me bring some sad news to you tuning table......... ed hardy outerwear. thats right the coolest gear ever made by taiwanese toddlers to hit the us market can know be seen by only the trendiest of lodge dwellers this season. i spent a 1/2 hour or so trying to track down some actual shots of these horrendous errr .... awesome ... pieces of clothing, but couldn't even find an online retailer! even the home page is void of all evidence so maybe at this point it never got off the ground. regardless they are advertising in snowboard mag just so you know that you can look this cool while snowboarding:

at first i was skeptical that winter even came to capital hill and was beginning to look forward to a relatively layer free winter. wrong! its suddenly dropped around 15 degrees or so and when you sleep on the floor and your not ready for that kind of wake up call, you earn your mornings. being over enthusiastic about mornings as it is this guarantees that i'll be bringing bright rays of sunshine into everyones life. with this new cold spell i thought of upgrading my wardrobe to something with a little wool in it but after searching online for some winners i remembered that the sweater community is nothing more than the seedy underbelly of the fashion world (this being the taint).

something that will always be eternally hilarious to me is the

site of men in women's clothing. even funnier to me is when

these men try to pass themselves off as real women. now

maybe this is insensitive of me, and perhaps their economic

deal with it. recently i've discovered that seattle has a

vibrant drag queen/drag king community and I see them

frequently during my neighborhood walks however none

have been as epic as the lady (guy?) i saw today at work.

i feel like there are two things you should try and shoot

for if you really want to sell yourself as a woman:

1.) female hygiene habits/attire and 2.) hiding your man parts.

with some brief research i discovered that not only can you buy ladies lingere designed to fit a man aka manties? but you can also purchase actual female prosthetics. i would have gone with "janet's man tits", but since when has a cleaver (cleeverage?) rhyme scheme boosted your market share?

i also stumbled upon a quaint little production done by a young lady? by the name of "cici kitten" which is blog covering all things drag (link below). suddenly fem would make a sweet band name and "my fem place" would be a good first album name. im thinking some heavy ass metal cross dressing band would slay! hey if these guys can pull it off i don't see why it can't be done in drag.

ohhhhhhhh snap son! there are two bands whose albums i anticipate with extreme excitement and buy without listening to a single song. 1 - junior boys and 2 - kings of convenience. with the former having dropped their newest album - begone dull care - earlier this year, the later decided to bring christmas in october with their newest release - declaration of dependence! without getting into the huge man crush i have on these guys i will simply state that you will never find a better set of lp's to snuggle, pout, ride your bike through town, recover from a long day, watch the rain, or do chores around the house to. besides being suburb instrumentalists the lyricism in their songs is so real and haunting that a crystal clear picture is painted in your head as you listen to each new story/song. and if you compare them to jack johnson i will hammer punch your grandma! please dont draw parallels simply to initiate conversation. you can simply go "oh this sounds nice" repress your coldplay reference that holds no water. you know who you are!

i really haven't delved into my deep love and appreciation of almost all forms of music. hopefully i can bring that element into my posts in order to keep you guys up to speed with some of the great music out there that gets past by more often than not.

i know it negates the good deed when you bring it out for personal gain, but i just wanted to share this with you. i feel its important for people to know how much better i am than the rest of you because of my personal donations. if you look closely you'll see a pair of supra skytops and some golden vans eras. those were in my closet in anchorage 4 months ago and now they're in burundi, africa! i have a shoe problem and as a way of confronting my issues i've donated a large chunk of my collection to several charities. i actually dont care if anybody knows that i donated, i'm just excited to actually see something i didnt need and took for granted get to somebody who needs it! anybody whose donated hopes that what they give will be used and valued because thats the whole point.

Considering my NASCAR post its only fitting that this is how I start my day. This much room on the rear and 6 inches in the front for the cars parked around me, I'm not even going to go into it.

So I went to Pikes Place instead! Noah, Jane, and Pat were passing through and came to say hi and check out the town. They drafted me as a semi tour guide which was pointless since Pat had lived here before so he knew more than me anyways. We still had a fun time regardless though and got a few photos in the process.

MC PH balanced looking fashionable as usual, easy ladies! look, don't touch..... yet.

New Cast

So this I've actually had this sleek black beast for about a week and a half, but better late than never to give you all an update.

So for those of you who don't know, I have a fractured Scaphoid which is the bone beneath the thumb that connects the hand to the arm. This is one of the worst bones in the wrist to break because the amount of blood and oxygen that flows to this part of the wrist is limited. The Scaphoid also has a tendency to displace and separate at the fracture line forcing surgery and a screw being implanted into the bone.

This is how you break a Scaphoid, pfffff like this ever happens!

Heres a drawing of the artery that supplies the blood to the Scaphoid. As you can see if the bone splits there is just the one source so the separated half is cut off from the blood flow and dies, forcing surgery.

So as of right now Dr. Chris Allen believes that I have a 96% chance of healing properly and won't need surgery. So I get to wear this long cast for 5 weeks followed by at least 4 weeks in a short cast. After that about a month of rehab, soooooooo call me Steve Austin cause we can rebuild me but not for cheap. Again all prayers, good vibes, good thoughts, or whatever you believe in are greatly appreciated. Its hard to keep from getting bummed out on this whole situation, but fortunately I have alot of friends pulling for me and I love you guys alot. Stay tuned cause I'm planning on healing fully in 5 weeks and coming out of the X-Ray machine shouting:"BOO-YAAAAAAH!!!"

Seattle So Far Pt. 2

What a cool town, when I say that I mean the actual streets and city itself are incredible. I feel like I could live here for years and find places tucked away in all kinds of hidden spaces. I really think I'm going to like it here a lot ...... once I sell my car.

Now most of you may or may not know this, but after driving for just one week I have discovered that half of Seattle's residents are NASCAR fans! While the casual observer would think that he or she is being "tailgated" by some over-caffeinated yuppie jack-ass with a heavy horn hand, the careful eye reveals that these locals are simply "drafting!"

For those of you unfamiliar with this fuel saving technique it has to do with the principle of air flow dynamics and reducing drag on your vehicle (consult above diagram). While the close proximity and disregard for safety might be unsettling at first, once you realize that your doing them a favor in this tough economy you feel better instantly.

The B Movie Premier

Well turns out that the nights are 5 days long here if you follow the same time scale I did with this post. Luckily I have a job that I go to regularly along with this thing called real life. So the gap, while crappy (and I apologize), was semi necessary. Rest assured that I'll be continuing my postings though and hopefully on a more regular basis. Anyways enough excuses let get this thing going again!

What movie premier is complete without bird deuce? Rhetorical question stupid: none. Bizzle decided to take his texting game to the next level and throw in an obstacle challenge.

And then slowly strolled downstairs to clean up.

Not even a Jamie Foxx concert could shutdown enough parking to keep the masses out. I love the deer in headlights look that green hoodie guy is throwing me.

Who doesn't love free product? Everyone who attended received a goodie bag hand packed by the crew at G.M.W. (including one crippled kid)! The best part about it was how many people complained about the shirt size they got! Most of them were girls which makes me wonder how we have women economists because clearly none of these girls understood the word "recession," its a FREE shirt! at a FREE movie! wear it!...... hmmm enough sexism, moving on.

This guy was extremely satisfied with his gift bag and was enthusiastic about the shirt placed inside as well.

Showtime! I would recommend watching this movie if you get the chance, but maybe save your cash for Videograss or Cool Story. Nicolas muller has an awesome segment (weird, I know) and Freddi K is still one of the best jumpers in the world. However the rest of this joint is park footy and doesn't take me through a season experience like the last burton movie did. Make sure you check out Keegan Valaika's part aswell - heavy.

Shows over, time for more free stuff! With several snowboards given away and a few season passes to Stevens Pass (who chucked out another free night riding ticket for the goodie bags!) several people went home super stoked! This young lady has a new board with handwriting on it.
